2019 Out in the Open Summit for Rural & Small Town LGBTQ Folks

Registrations are closed

Registration is now closed for the Summit. We will keep a waitlist this year. We limit the Summit to 65 people as a way to maintain the intimacy of the whole event. Things tend to get pretty wild in the days leading up to the Summit so if it's shortly before September 27, expect longer wait times to hear back from us. We're so thrilled you're interested in joining us!

Description

This 5th annual event is a three-day gathering for those of us LGBTQ people who are living, creating, working, and organizing in rural communities and small towns.

This year's theme is REST & RESILIENCE.

Out in the Open is a space to vent, strategize, connect, build, reflect, think, experience, and make. Folks from any rural community or small town are welcome to join us although we anticipate the majority of attendees are likely to be from the Northeast US.

We are again offering full- and half-day Friday Field Trips which you can register for here. Field Trips are a way for you all to get to know a smaller group of summit participants before we're with the whole group on Saturday, to dig in deeply to a single topic, and to experience and support some local area organizing.

Field Trips are intended for those attending the full Summit so you'll see that reflected in the price of registration when you click on the "register" button to the right. There are both paid and free Friday Field Trip options.

When registering, select either "Summit Attendance" or "Summit Attendance + [a friday field trip]". Feel free to email us with any questions.

As always, if you are unable to pay the registration, email us (HB@weareoutintheopen.org)! We always reserve spaces for folks who cannot pay—no volunteer requirements!

And, this year we have funds to support specifically BIPOC attendees and low or no-income attendees as well as travel stipends. If you are traveling to the Summit from beyond the Northeast USA, we likely cannot support the full cost of air travel. Please contact us at info@weareoutintheopen.org to coordinate travel stipends or to discuss the possibilities. The deadline for submitting a registration with request for travel stipend is Friday, September 13, 2019.
